She didn’t have many lines—or even much screen time—but Elisabeth Brooks still became a horror legend for her role as the evil but sexy seductress Marsha Quist in the classic werewolf film The Howling (1981), where she impressed not only with her acting abilities, but her hourglass figure—shown fully naked and fully beautiful with ripe breasts and wide hips cradling a triangle of paradise. Further cementing her horror status, she followed that film up with Deep Space (1988) as Mrs. Ridley, and as Carla in The Forgotten One (1989) with Kristy McNichol (a good friend of Elisabeth’s). Although movies are where the dark-haired divine damsel made her name and figure famous, she also had a strong television presence, and appeared on numerous popular series in the ‘70s, including her debut as lab assistant Natalie in Kolchak: The Night Stalker in 1974; Carole Mapes in Ironside, Gretchen in Lucas Tanner, a nurse in The Six Million Dollar Man—the episode that launched The Bionic Woman, as a volunteer and a nurse in Marcus Welby, M.D., and both Betsy and Marla in Emergency!, all in 1975; as Nurse Connie Kimbrough in Doctor’s Hospital from 1975-1976; as May in the Emmy-winning TV mini-series Rich Man, Poor Man with Nick Nolte; with good bad boys Starsky & Hutch, playing Marlene in 1978; with Jim in The Rockford Files as Jean Ludwig in 1979; the recurring character of Theresa Harper in the daytime drama Days of Our Lives in 1979, and as Joyce in the TV movie The Solitary Man (1979). Elisabeth had one final TV, Mrs. Murphy in Jake and the Fatman in 1991, before her untimely death from cancer in 1997 at the age of 46. She’ll still always be remembered by legions of horror geeks, in addition to the many actors who benefited from Elisabeth’s later work as an acting coach.
